Fishing on Grand Traverse Bay from Traverse City from Elmwood Township Marina has been awesome this past week. I would say that this past week has been the week of the steelhead. These high energy, fast swimming, high jumping, line tugging, rainbow trout are just a joy to catch when fishing on the waters of Lake Michigan. We are so lucky to have such a diverse fishery in West Grand Traverse Bay. We can go out there and get a limit of lake trout plus get a chance at steelhead or King salmon or two, and before you know it. you have an adventure to remember for years to come.
The Steelhead have been chasing orange colored spoons in the top third of the water column. The tried and dependable chrome spoon with double orange crush tape is always a good choice. Others like Steelie Stomper or Steelie Dan will also work. You may want to put out a Rasta Goose super slim as all fish love that bait. Now we are half way through the month of July and before you know it West Grand Traverse Bay will be filled with the King Salmon and sounds like screaming off the reels. We have a couple trips available in July and a fair amount available in August. Give us a call, email or text and schedule your next adventure!
