The lake trout fishing from both West Grand Traverse Bay and Lake Michigan out in good Harbor Bay have been excellent. We’ve been catching the lake trout, using cowbells with spinning glows trailing behind them. We have also caught lake trout on spoons using dipsey diver and leadcore rod set ups.
On some days, glow bates work better on other days bright shiny lures work better. The lake trout seem to be in transition this past week moving up from deep water into shallow water. Sometimes the fish have their bellies full of alewives, other times the bellies are full of gobies. These fish seem to be eating very well and they seem to be running after the small schools of alewives and gobies up and down a steep bank.
It appears that the lake trout are moving from the deep water up to the shallow water where the water temperatures are suitable for both bait fish and the lake out.
We still have a fair amount of openings available in June if you’d like to get out and enjoy this incredible lake Trout fishery or spring Kings please contact us at www.reelinleland.com or by phone – 231-866-0035
